Thermal Flux Sensing

The Thermal Flux Sensing system uses a PCB mounted thermistor. A controlled current is applied to the thermistor. This heats up the thermistor. When flux is sprayed and it hits the thermistor the thermistor cools slightly and this results in a change in the current. This change is read by the machine as ‘flux present’.

Principle of Operation

The sequence of operation is:

  1. The Fluxer Head moves to the Flux Purge Offset position.
  2. The Thermistor is heated.
  3. The Flux head sprays flux.
  4. The system looks for a change in current reading.
  5. The flux spray is then switched off.
  6. The change is current value is compared to the fixed threshold. If the value is below this threshold then an error message is generated.

Maintenance of the thermistor is just a matter of wiping it clean with some IPA thinners once a shift
